Neck Deep @ NX Newcastle

Pop-Punk royalty, Neck Deep, returned to Newcastle with a shortened setlist for their first headline gig in the North East since early 2022.

Kicking off with the opening track of the new self-titled album, Dumbstruck Dumbfuck, the Welsh band took to the stage following strong support from One Step Closer and The Wonder Years.

Very much reminiscent of their Reading & Leeds sets of 2024, the first four songs of their setlist were taken straight from the latest album, before lead singer, Ben announced ‘this one is a deep-cut from Life’s Not Out To Get You’ leading into fan favourite ‘The Beach Is For Lovers (Not Lonely Losers)’

Following on from the erasure of ‘I Revolve (Around You)’, Ben opened up to the crowd about his struggles on tour and apologised for a shorter than usual setlist, with the two songs following on from ‘Gold Steps’ also missing out.

Ten songs into their set, the band joked about playing their ‘last song of the evening’ before announcing a three song encore which finished with ‘In Bloom’.

The band also teased the possibility of anniversary shows towards the second half of the year, assuring fans they will have ‘plenty of opportunities to see Neck Deep’.

Although, their last headline show at Newcastle offered a more complete setlist; every new song was more than appreciated by the crowd and just like any Neck Deep show, the energy was unmatched. An understandable lack of old classics aside, they made sure their NX debut was well worth the wait.
